Troubleshooting

It is inevitable that some students will be concerned about their performance, personal interactions, workload, quality of teaching/learning, etc. during their rotations.  What should you do when you have concerns?  The first thing is to sort out whether your concerns are justified.  You can turn to fellow students, your advisor, or your site coordinator to help reflect on this.  If you have a concern, the following is our advice on the hierarchy of how to pursue solutions:

If your concern is with your performance or with interactions with residents, talk with the residents or your attending or site coordinator.  If the problem is with the attending, speak with the attending or site coordinator.  If you find that these routes are inadequate to resolve the problem, call the course director.  The next line of inquiry is Dr. Ted Thompson, the Year 3-4 coordinator.  Thereafter, it becomes a problem for Dr. Helene Horwitz or Dr. Greg Vercellotti.
